December 2015

For months we've been asked where Porter gets his hair from.  Dad clearly got tired of people not understanding where the curls come from and decided enough was enough, people must know!  It must be made completely obvious that it comes from him!  He now finds great satisfaction in people exclaiming, "You must be Porter's Dad! or, "I see where he gets his curls from!"  This is about how big he smiles each time he hears that.  I'm afraid there's no haircut insight... Dad's having way too much fun with this!

Another fun thing is all the snow we've been getting in Council.  Except our side by side temporarily broke and we were unable to plow our driveway which meant we weren't even able to get our truck up it.  It wasn't too fun have to walk it in the cold.  We've also been having problems with the well freezing... It's been quite chilly!

Thanks to Grandma Gloria for sending halibut with Matt when he came to visit in September we have the BEST halibut tacos for dinner!

One morning when I was getting ready for CrossFit I heard Lydia telling Ephraim to stop biting.  Then she went away for a bit and came back with a box.  I briefly heard her say something about "if you bite again you're going in here."  Days later I was packing up gifts to take to Council and I saw the "Bite Box."  It made me laugh so hard and still makes me laugh!  What a silly but smart little girl!

Council camber of commerce hosted a super fun Christmas Saturday for the kids.  There were six different businesses to visit each with a different craft or ornament.  This one was decorating sugar cookies.  Some also offered hot chocolate and cookies.  Porter wasn't feeling well so he didn't get to join us but Lydia, Zerin and Hyrum had a great time.

Having fun with the Christmas decorations

This was by far my favorite purchase of the season.  I found this gem at Costco the beginning of November and couldn't wait to set it up!  I've been wanting a large nativity for years and finally have one, hooray!!
Not very happy that he's stuck at home with Sissy while mom and dad are enjoying themselves at Starkey.

Obviously Lydia was having a difficult time with the other boys...

This was the Santa station on the Council Christmas Saturday.  They got a little goodies bags with a book, some crayons and other knick knacks.

This little boy is one handsome guy!  I was in the bathroom getting ready with him while he was brushing his hair.  When he was done he looked in the mirror and exclaimed, "So stinking handsome!"  You are so stinking right, Zerin!!  I love you!

This boy, oh this boy!  He is like a porcelain doll.  So beautiful (in a handsome way)!

The tree all set up in Council.  Since we were spending Christmas out there we put up a few other decorations in the house and Jon set up quite the lights outside.  Better than he's ever done on any of our other houses...  He likes his Council house!

Right before he realized this was a strange looking person and started screaming.

It's been so fun to have lots of snow in Council this year.  Dad loves to take the kids out and play with side by side.

Kent Noethe and his son, Levi, came up to got bird hunting with Dad and Hyrum.  Kent and Hyrum each shot the goose but they let Kent take it.  Hyrum harvested a couple ducks.

Dad's favorite, cuddle time with his kiddos

Since Lydia didn't get to have a birthday party and she's homeschooled and doesn't get to see her friends very often I thought it would be fun for her to have a Christmas party.  We ended up with eight high-energy fun girls.  They played charades and musical chairs, ate pizza, decorated gingerbread houses, made up skits, guessed on candy jars and did a gift exchange.  It sure was a lot of fun!  Dad and the boys even got to have parts in the skits.

Hyrum with Santa in Council

What a heart throb!

We had to do a lot of prep work before this.  He wanted to sit with him and tell him what he wanted for Christmas but when it came down to it, it was scarier than he thought.  He braved up and made it though.

This little guy never liked it and couldn't get off that lap soon enough!

The Council ward sure had a nice Christmas party.  So glad we're blessed to be part of two wards!

We try to make it out to Starkey each time we come up.  Sure has been a fun date night for us.

Homemade caramel popcorn time

This handsome boy got to give a talk today in the Council primary.  We brought a small nativity and talked about how each member of the Nativity reminds us to follow Jesus.
Due to the water issues we've been having I didn't want to come back out with all the kids until the water was fixed (it's been a grey silty color for a couple weeks and when we last left we had no water).  So, we spent New Year's eve divided.  Dad, Hyrum and Porter in Council and Lydia, Zerin, Ephraim and I in Fruitland.  Dad thawed the well and tried to get us to come join them but we decided to stay home and relax and get caught up on things like blogging so I can make this book for you all to read.  We have spent almost every weekend in Council the last two and a half months, which is fun, but leaves little time to get things in Fruitland done.  Lydia and Zerin have been having a wonderful time playing with Rocky and Rosy and I've been working hard till the wee hours of the night...New Year's Eve was uneventful but relaxing with some sparkling cider and toasts with the kiddos.  Here's to a wonderful 2016!
