Hyrum's 1st day of Kindergarten

Lydia insisted on being in the photo with Hyrum. She is her brother's shadow most of the time.

Hyrum infront of the door to the school. You'll notice Hyrum's clothes are part of the Fruitland School District uniform policy. They are only allow kahki or black pants/shorts; orange, black, white or grey solid colored colared shirts. There's a few other guidelines that go with such as no logos.

The 1st couple days the Kindergarteners meet in the cafeteria for treats and milk (juice for Hyrum) before school starts. I've had a few reservations about Hyrum starting school. Mainly the fact that he'll be exposed to things we don't agree with in our home. Like processed snacks (AKA partially hydrogenated sugar coming in the apperance of food), the push of pasteurized and homogenized milk (it's amazing how prominent "dairy" is in schools), and vaccinations. I'm sure there are many others that will come up, but for now in Kindergarten those are the biggies for me. It's not like we're perfect in our home as far as eating, but at least I'm aware of everything my kids are consuming and the junk food isn't on a daily basis. This whole school thing may be a little tough, but those of you who know me know that I'm not afraid to voice my opinion:)

Spring Creek

Hunting season brings about a need for pre-hunting season (AKA "souting season"). It appears that it must last for at least two or three weeks according to Jon. Thankfully, archery scouting season is beautiful camping weather so the kids and I don't mind at all that we must take the trailer and go to the mountains. Spring Creek campground is one of my favorite places to be when Jon is going to be spending most of his time out looking for animals. There is a really nice nature hike that the kids and I enjoy and Hyrum was big enough this year to hike the entire trail with me. The campground also offers nice shade during the day when the temperature gets a little warm.

Jon thought he'd try to watch the Olympics, but no such luck! Not enough reception.

Card playing is a favorite in our family. Hyrum learned how to play Uno this year and he frequently beats Jon and I.

These thimble berries are abundant in the campgourd and they ripen overnight. We snacked on these as often as we could. It is amazing the potency and flavor of wild berries verses conventional berries. Hyrum was always so sweet to share what he picked with all of us. One evening the kids and I picked quite a few while we were waiting for Jon to get back and Hyrum saved several his for his Dad. I, on the other hand, was picking and eating--no saving was going on :) Hyrum is such a sweet boy!

These are pictures of the kids and I on our hike. There's a loop trail and then an upper trail. We don't usually do the upper trail b/c it's pretty steep and hot, but Hyrum had been begging so we did it. Hyrum hiked all the way to the top without even whining. I was so proud of him!

I had to add this photo b/c Jon and I thought it looked hilarious of the kids running. Hyrum is chasing Lydia who's sporting only a T-shirt and diaper. They sure had fun running around playing.

Happy 31st Birthday, Jon!

You know, I don't think it was a coincident that Jon was born August 23rd. What better time to have his birthday than during scouting season? What a perfect excuse to be in the mountains every year on your birthday! I'm sure he planned it this way:)

Sunset in the Mann's Creek area

I actually did good with the birthday presents this year. Hooray for me! Jon got a camo hooded sweatshirt, a scent-free, water-proof camo coat (similar to the coat Gloria gave Hyrum this summer when we were in Alaska so now they can be twins- they love being twins), and a new work shirt. I've learned I pretty much can't go wrong with camo. Jon enjoyed spending his birthday in the mountains. We sang to him and opened presents and he even had a poster hung in the tree. The only thing missing was the cake, which we had the next day at his parents house.

Lydia's two year pictures

These pictures were taken by Heidi, about two weeks before Lydia turned two. Heidi does a great job with kids and I love how the pictures turned out. Lydia especially enjoyed the pictures where she got to wear all the pretty necklaces. She is so girl!

We also took a few pictures of Hyrum and Lydia and the kids and I.

Again!

Poor Lydia was attacked again. This time 6 stings!! We apparently have a wasp nest or 2 under the steps of our back porch and all you have to do is step on the step and they attack. I think the rest of us are fast enough to get away but Lydia's not so fast on those steps. Unfortunately, I was in the front yard and didn't know she went out the back door. When I came in I could hear her crying and ran out the back door. By then she was at the bottom of the stairs grabbing her legs. Hyrum and his friend were out there and said the wasps were swarming her. I felt HORRIBLE!! Jon will be killing that nest ASAP!!!!

Getting Closer

This is a recent picture of our Weiser house/office. We're planning an open house next Thursday and hope to be open for business the following Tuesday. Hooray!!! Jon has worked really hard with this house and it looks great!

Doors to the migun room and the NRT (Nutrition Response Testing) room.

This is a picture from the front door. Behind the reception desk is the bathroom and Jon's office and then to the left of the waiting area is a migun room and a nutrition room. To the north side of the waiting area is the main treament room. I'll take more photos at our open house and you can see the finished project :)

"Mosquito got me!"

Sweet little Lydia got her 1st wasp sting today. I was jumping on the trampoline and she was walking down the stairs of our back porch and started crying. We have several wasps around so I knew right away what it was. Sure enough there was a sting mark right below her right eye. It sweleed up pretty bad and now her whole eye is swollen. I felt bad for her so as you can see she's enjoying a popcicle. After it happened I was sitting on the couch holding her and she said, "Mosquito got me!" There's a lot of talk about mosquitoes around her so she must have assumed that's what did it. By the way, the white stuff on her face is baking soda. It's suppose to stop the sting.

Paddock Reservoir

Friday night after work we decided to take the boat out and try our hand at fishing. Unfortunately, no luck fishing but the kids had fun swimming. This is Hyrum with his friend Trevor.

Grandpa Fred

We were grateful to have Grandpa Fred come spend the 1st night of his vacation with us. He is headed to a class reunion and then over to see Brandon in Wyoming and then back to Idaho Falls area to see more family. The kids love seeing their Grandpa and were sad to see him leave. Before he left Lydia said, "Gampa Fed stay yaya's (Lydia's) house!" She was especially sad to see him leave.

Hyrum was well overdue on a haircut so of course we had to put Grandpa to work. We're grateful for his skills as a barber!

They look pretty happy, huh?

Brought to Justice

The individuals who broke into our office were finally caught and justice is being served. It took five break-ins before the police caught them, but they finally did. Our next door neighbors (at the office) and friends, Mike and Courtney's Cell Phone store was broken into over the weekend. The burgulars actually lived RIGHT behind our office. The shed that is no more than five feet where Jon parks his truck everyday was holding all of our belongings. It's kind of bittersweet to get our belongs back. We're excited to get them, but then quickly realize most have been damaged beyond repair or at least ruined and no long of value to us. The vacuum is usable and I believe the drill, TV, and DVD player are all good. Everything else was either ruined, missing parts or not retrieved. I'm glad the people were caught, but now I've got to deal with reopening the wound I thought was healed. I forgive them for breaking into our office and realize it is not my place to judge. I have no idea where there are coming from and what they have dealt with in life. I hope once they are released from jail they find a way to make their lives productive to society.
