Alaska Bound

Our Memorial Day weekend was cut short this year because Jon volunteered (very gladly) to help his friend move back up to Alaska. We came home from camping last night (Saturday) to dirty laundry, dirty kids, dirty trailer, dirty cars, a jungle for a lawn, and Jon's unprepared talk for sacrament meeting at 9am the next morning. Not to mention the fact that Jon had not packed for his 2 week trip to Alaska, which he was suppose to leave for right after sacrament meeting. Talk about crazy. To be honest it doesn't overwhelm me that much anymore. That's just the way Jon works. Somehow we were able to get it all done and everyone clean and soundly asleep by 12:30am. Jon awoke early this morning to finish off his talk, which he did a very good job on, and we were early to Church (unfortunately, a rare occasion for our family).

Jon's friend, Matt, had a few hookups on his way here so he was a couple hours behind schedule, and then they had some work to do on the trailer once he got here so they didn't end up leaving Fruitland until almost 3pm.

I talked to Jon about 8pm tonight and they were in Council, ID. About 70 miles north of us. They had some not so good luck with a flat tire in Payette (about 5 miles from us). Then they stopped in Weiser for a couple hours and repacked the trailer. The dilemma here is the fact that the vehicle they are using is a V6 Kia and they're pulling a load most definitely too heavy. Especially, for a trip clear to Alaska (2800 miles from Fruitland and Matt started out in Denver). My prayers and well wishes are with them.

I am going to NP on Tuesday night & will be picked on for 8 days by your son in Washington.

Cannot wait to see you.
